Pit Bulls
Pit Bulls are the most misunderstood breed, so many people
have so many different opinions toward this breed. I am here to prove the fact that the problem
is with the owner and not the breed. This breed has been tormented ever since 1835
when bull baiting was out-lawed. Pitbulls.org says “Promoters began looking for new means of
profit. They turned to ratting and dog fighting.” Dog fighting is an activity
in which fights between two game dogs are staged as a form of entertainment and
gambling. This has been going on for 180 years. In 2007, the U.S. Congress
passed a Federal law against interstate dog fighting activities, providing for
felony-level penalties including multi-year prison sentences and large fines
for each offense. This law was passed 8 years ago and people are still doing it
and still do not get the punishment that they deserve.
Let’s look at it this way, if a child was abused, would it
be the child’s fault? No. It is the same thing with dogs. Dogs are just
as helpless as children are when it comes to their abuser. Some children that
get abused lash out, steal, bully, and even later on abuse their own children. But
in that case people would say it is the very first abuser's fault. Some
Pits lash out after being abused and now they are known as the most dangerous
breed in the world. Villalobos Rescue Center is a Pit Bull rescue rehabilitation
and placement facility for abused and abandoned Pit Bulls. They have around 300
Pit Bulls, I think if anybody knows anything about Pits it would be them.
Vrcpitbull.net says “Pit Bulls are wonderful animals that deserve a chance to
have a good life just like any other dog. However, it’s important to remember
that Pit Bulls are not just any other dog. They are a little more of everything
a dog can be.” The woman that runs this
center said this and has more Pit Bulls then anyone and still has so many
positive things to say about them.
Tia Torres is the women that runs Villalobos Rescue Center,
she also said this “Pit bulls make a great family companions while in the right
hands in living situations, they require intelligent, responsible, and
dedicated owners” So most people that buy Pit bulls do not have these
qualities, instead they throw them in a cage and see which dog is left alive.
If you treat Pit bulls right, they may just end up being your best friend. Pit
bulls are extremely loyal and always trying to please, that is when they get
into trouble
If someone abused
you, would you want to be the nice, loyal, loving dog everyone wants you to be.
I highly doubt any of us would feel like being nice to them any more. I am sorry but if someone did this to me, I wouldn’t be the nicest human being.
But people have this idea that when you abuse an animal they are supposed to
want to do what you say. Wrong, if someone hurts you in any way, you don’t want
to help them (you might want to help them off a cliff but that’s about it) I keep comparing dogs and
humans because we aren’t that different. Physically we are different but our
brains and hearts aren’t. Dogs have compassion, loyalty, bravery, and so many
other human characteristics. When you are loyal for so long and you just keep
getting screwed over, you get tired of it! If you abuse a dog, I am sorry but
you deserve the mauling they have in store for you and also some time in
prison.
There is this website called dogsbite.org ran by Colleen
Lynn. This website is just against the Pit Bull breed even though all dogs
bite. She says the #1 myth is: It’s the owner not the breed. But she had
nothing to back up that theory. She also says “Pit Bull owners are lying about
their dogs. That they aren’t really nice and they don’t want to lick you to
death. It’s funny because I didn’t know she had met every Pit Bull in the world
and I also didn’t know she could read owners minds. She says her website is for
“ supporting dog mauling victims” when I was on her website I barely saw
anything about the victims. It was all just negative things about the breed.
Colleen says that only criminals want these dogs. Check my record, Colleen, I
am clean and I want a Pit Bull. There are so many flaws on her website and
nothing to back up what she has to say because it is just her opinion. This
poor lady is so closed minded about these dogs. But she is too busy shoving her
opinion down other people’s throat to realize it.
“All dogs, including pit bulls, are individuals. Treating
them as such, providing them with the care, training and supervision they
require, and judging them by their actions and not by their DNA or their physical
appearance is the best way to ensure that dogs and people can continue to share
safe and happy lives together” Says aspca.org. That just went against
everything Colleen Lynn is trying to teaching people.
Some of my friends Taylor, Alyssa, and Lyron have a Pit Bull
named Bronson. Alyssa says “I have always wanted a Pit ever since I was a young
girl. To me, they are beautiful, majestic looking dogs. I grew up knowing they
had a bad reputation.” Her and her family rescued Bronson from a shelter. Bronson
is almost 4 years old. Lyron is their 2 year old son and is also Bronson’s best
friend. Bronson has been around a lot of
children and is very good with them. I asked Alyssa about Bronson’s personality
and she said “Bronson is literally like having a second child. She is funny,
loving, needy, bossy, cuddly, dedicated, loyal, bullheaded, playful. She knows
she is family. She sits on the sofa with us. She sleeps in bed with us, next to
Lyron usually. She ALWAYS thinks she is going to get to come with us when we
leave and is very sad when we make her stay home.” All Pit Bulls just need a
family to give them a chance.
I challenge you to give this breed a try. No matter what you may have heard about them, form your own opinion. I mean it's America, come on. You can have your own opinion. Try it, I dare you, unless you are too scared... then still try it. Get over yourself and make friends with a Pit Bull.
